Capturing December - Favorite Holiday Movie

After three decades and with hundreds of choices, A Christmas Story is my all time, favorite, Christmas movie.

Like all good films, lines from the movie have permeated our culture, and there are few people who don't know that "fragile" is Italian and an official Red Rider, carbine action, 200 shot, range model air rifle is *the* thing to get for Christmas, but be aware, you'll shoot your eye out
The popularity lies in the fact that it is a story of our culture - Hope. Disappointment. Victory ... and Family.

And Christmas dinner at a Chinese restaurant ;).

  1. This cracked me up - I've never been as huge a fan of the movie as some folks, but I've sat through it a couple of times. I couldn't help but laugh last Christmas when we got a bit bored, lonely for our last duty station and went for a drive ~ only to find that the local Chinese place was open.

Guess where we had lunch? ;)

  2. For many years, we spent every Christmas at the in-laws. One Christmas, we were there only long enough to do the gift swap, when Deus Ex Machina started getting a full-blown migraine. I grabbed the kids, and we all headed home, but we hadn't prepared anything for dinner, because we weren't supposed to be here. So, we ordered take-out from a local Chinese Restaurant. I had duck - sans the head ;).
