Spring Arrived During the Snowstorm

We just had our first winter storm, yesterday. It snowed all day, and there is a very nice accumulation, and if things go as they should, we won't see grass until March.

Today, the mailman dropped off my package.

Looks like I have plenty of time to make a good plan ... ;).

  1. I love planning what Im going to grow each spring, we are lucky here. our winters are mild and we can continue to grow food all year. so while harvesting like I am now I am planning my autumn garden. I hope you have an abundant harvest.

  2. You might want to check the packages that you have. Johnny's has recently been buying/packing out in China, and I don't mean China, Maine. A friend of mine approached the owner at a Unity, Maine, event and apparently the gentleman didn't see the issue behind outsourcing seed packing or buying seeds outside of the region.

  3. Thanks for the info, Tasha. How does one tell what seeds might have been packed in China and which aren't? There's nothing that says on the package where the seeds are from. They all say "Winslow, Maine."

  4. I'll shoot off a message to Mark and see how he noticed. I know he was steamed when he came across it.

We had been buying from Agway for a while, but after doing research, We've decided to go with FedCo. I'll let you know how things go when we order from them. :-)

  5. Thanks. I appreciate it! I've gone with Johnny's for a while, because they're an employee-owned, Maine-based company.

I really hate finding out that they're not kind of environmentally protective company I'd thought them to be.
