Water Company Sells Rain Barrels

I love ...

While some parts of this country have outlawed rainwater collection, Maine not only allows it, but the water company even encourages it by offering discounts on rainbarrels.

You gotta seriously love a company that encourages their customers to engage in lifestyle changes/behaviors that might make the company's bottom line a bit smaller.

  1. We just got a flyer in the mail about it from the city the other day. They are also discounting compost bins and kitchen scrap pails. I'm glad they sent out a flyer this year though, because I typically hear about it after the window closes.

  2. Yea! I'm glad you appreciate it, and are promoting the rain barrel. I started that program at PWD a number of years ago when I was working for them (I left about 5 years ago after having my son) - we sold about 30 barrels the first year. It's been great to see the positive reaction with the public/customers. I will say, PWD really IS committed to Sebago Lake, and water usage in general, and not just as a front for good PR.
