What's funny, Bezzie, is I agree with you. It was in the upper-30s yesterday, and it was balmy ... for winter time ;), and if we'd turned the camera around, I was out there in just a hoodie sweatshirt taking his picture ;).
I just love the picture of him in shortsleeves with all of that snow on the ground. It amuses me. I have a picture of my daughters barefooted playing hopscotch in the driveway with snowbanks in the background. It amuses me, too ;).
Wendy you need not fear China. we don't have anything they want except our rapidly declining dollar, with which they can still buy all of the resources and resource companies around the world on the cheap; except that is, in Russia. Russia has only 150 million people (Mexico about 170 million) but 1/7 of the world's land mass. Most of that land mass is filled with raw materials: oil and gas, timber, minerals, precious metals, and water, since Lake Baikal holds fully 1/5 of all of the fresh water in the world. that's more than all of the Great Lakes combined! You should worry, Wendy, only if you live in Irkutsk.
I'm growing roots, both figuratively and literally, in the suburbs of southern Maine with Deus Ex Machina, our great kids, a flock of suburban chickens, some whacky ducks, and a herd of rabbits.
In this eminently practical and thoughtful book, Wendy Brown takes on the challenge of exploring the options for surviving and thriving through hard times in the suburbs, and carries it off with aplomb. Highly recommended!

It was 40 degrees today! Balmy!
Can I put that picture on my blog? I'll title it: My Crazy Father... What's he doing in that picture any way?
